Where to Stay in Jaipur: Areas and Recommended Hotels (2026)
Jaipur, the Pink City, is the capital of Rajasthan and the most colourful corner of the Golden Triangle: palaces, bazaars, the Palace of the Winds and Amber Fort on the hills. Its great appeal for sleeping is the havelis, old mansions turned into hotels with courtyards, painted arches and terraces.
How to Get to Jaipur
Jaipur is about 280 km south-west of Delhi and about 240 km from Agra:
✈️Jaipur Airport (JAI), ~12 km from the centre, with flights to Delhi, Mumbai and other Indian cities.
🚆From Delhi by train (Shatabdi or Vande Bharat): ~4 h 30 to Jaipur Junction.
🚗From Agra by road: ~4 h 30 by car with a driver, with a stop at Fatehpur Sikri.
🚗From Delhi by road: ~5 h.
🛺Within the city, tuk-tuks and app-based taxis. The Pink City can be explored on foot.
🏰Amber Fort is ~11 km from the centre: 30–40 min by car or tuk-tuk.
The 3 Areas to Stay in Jaipur
1. Pink City (old town) To experience Jaipur
Inside the walls: the Palace of the Winds, the City Palace, the Jantar Mantar observatory and the bazaars, all on foot. The havelis in this area are in alleys where cars cannot go and arriving at night can be intimidating, but inside they are havens of peace. It is the option for those who want to immerse themselves in the old city.
2. Bani Park Havelis with gardens
A quiet residential district north-west of the centre, near the railway station, with Jaipur’s most classic haveli hotels: gardens, a pool, a rooftop restaurant. It is 10–15 minutes by tuk-tuk from the Pink City. Ideal for resting from the chaos after a day of bazaars.
3. C Scheme and M.I. Road Central and orderly
Modern Jaipur, just south of the walls: avenues, good restaurants and cafés, the Albert Hall Museum and the Pink City 10–20 minutes’ walk away. It combines the calm of a residential neighbourhood with being very close to everything.

10Ideal, like home
The house is spectacular, right in the centre but away from the bustle. The family is delightful. The dinner they offer is the best meal I had in all of India.

10Family palace
It is in a slightly hidden alley; arriving at night can be confusing, but once there it is very homely and peaceful. The stairs, as in any old building, can be difficult.

Get the rest of your trip ready
Jaipur is usually the last stop on the Golden Triangle before heading back to Delhi. From here you can also continue to the rest of Rajasthan: Udaipur, Jodhpur or Pushkar. For the return, the train to Delhi or a short flight are the most convenient options.
Jaipur deserves two full days: Amber Fort first thing, the City Palace, the Jantar Mantar, the Palace of the Winds and the bazaars of the Pink City. These are the most booked activities:
